(Animated pen draws a red line that leads into the text Record of Employment: ROE.)

Hi,
my name is Selena,
and I’m a Service Canada employee.

(Roe form appears.)

…As an employer,
you know that the Record of Employment,
or the ROE,
is the most
important document we use to process Employment Insurance Claims.

(Medium wide shot of host. ROE web page appears titled “The Record of Employment on the Web.” Word bubble appears with words “Benefits, What Rate?, How Long?” Word bubble appears with words “The Record of Employment on the Web (ROE WEB.”)

At Service Canada, we need the information on the ROE to determine whether
a person qualifies
for benefits,
how much they’re going to get,
and for how long.

(Cut to Tight shot of Host.)

…As an employer,
you have to
issue an ROE whenever there’s
an interruption
in your employees’ earnings—
even if they have
no intention of
filing an EI claim.

(Medium shot of the Host. Printed ROE form appears. LINE DRAWING GRAPHIC: Stick person appears and holds up an ‘ROE WEB’ placard featuring words: Secure, Efficient, Reliable Convenient.)

…To make this
process easier,
we encourage employers to
use ROE Web
to submit their ROEs electronically.
ROE Web is a secure, efficient, reliable,
and convenient way
to submit ROEs.

(Stick person holds placard with words “Create, Submit, Print, View, Retrieve, Amend”.)

By using this
Web-based tool,
you can create, submit and print ROEs using
the Internet.
You can also view, retrieve and amend ROEs
without having to
re-enter all
the information
every time.

(ROE website page appears. LINE DRAWING GRAPHIC: Stick person sits at a desk and types on computer.)

And if you use compatible
payroll software,
or if you’ve developed an interface
with ROE Web,
you can submit
more than 1,200 electronic ROEs
at once.

(Tight shot of the Host.)

By using ROE Web
you won’t need
to stock paper forms
or keep paper copies of completed ROEs. You can also save
the postal fees
and the time it takes for you to distribute paper ROEs
to your employees.
It’s a win, win.

(Online ROE form appears. LINE DRAWING GRAPHIC: Stick person types on computer. Bubble appears with words: “Enter Data Online, Extracting data Online From a Payroll System” Electronic ROE Web form appears.)

There are two ways you can submit ROEs electronically—
either by entering
the data online,
one at a time…

(Online bulk transfer page appears. LINE DRAWING GRAPHIC: Stick person types on computer.)

…or by extracting
ROE data from
a payroll system
and uploading it
to the ROE Web.

(Drop-down menu appears. LINE DRAWING GRAPHIC: Stick person at desk. Bubble appears with words: “Pre filled Information, Drop Down Menus, Online Help, ROE Validation.”)

At ROE Web
you’ll find such features as
pre-filled information, drop-down menus, online help
and instant
validation.

This means we
get more accurate data and you can get fewer follow-up phone calls from us asking
for more
payroll information.

(Medium wide shot of the Host. (actual) Service Canada database appears. LINE DRAWING GRAPHIC: Stick person holds up a ‘6 years’ placard.)

…After our system accepts an ROE,
it’s assigned
a serial number
and is saved
in our Service Canada database
for six years.
And you can retrieve that ROE anytime,
to print or modify.

(Medium shot of the Host. A map of Canada appears next to the Stickman.)

…Any Canadian business that
meets the system requirements
can use ROE Web.
