Service Canada Centres For Youth (SCCY)

Service Canada Centres for Youth (SCCY) offer a number of services specially designed to help students find a job, including detailed job postings in a variety of fields, many links to employers, useful information on workplace health and safety and other government programs and services.

Over 300 SCCYs across Canada are open from May to August each year to help students with their career-related needs, and employers to promote job opportunities.

Service Canada Centres for Youth provide many valuable services to both students and employers

Services for youth:

  • Job postings, including volunteer opportunities, in the SCCY and on the Internet at Job Bank;
  • Assistance with résumés and cover letters;
  • Preparation for interviews;
  • Information on Government of Canada programs and services, wage rates, workplace health and safety, employment standards and funding options for post-secondary education; and
  • Free access to computers, Internet, fax and phone.

Services for Employers:

  • Job-posting services, including volunteer opportunities, in the SCCY and on the Internet at Job Bank;
  • Access to hundreds of youth looking for employment;
  • Flexible staffing options to suit individual business requirements, including casual labour, short & long-term employment; and
  • Information on Government of Canada programs and services, workplace health and safety, wage rates, employment standards, labour laws, and the local labour market.

Service Canada Centres for Youth continue to serve communities throughout Canada

Since 1968, Government of Canada centres serving youth have been offering employment services, free of charge, to help students improve their job-search skills and acquire meaningful employment, while helping employers find enthusiastic summer help.

These centres have a long and proud tradition of connecting youth with employers. For more than 40 years, they have been a recognized and dependable presence in communities across Canada .
