Cancelling Personal Identification
Here is a list of some of the personal identification cards, registrations, and other documents of the deceased that need to be cancelled or returned for cancellation:
- Social Insurance Number (SIN)
Return the SIN card along with a copy of the death certificate or a Statement of Death to Service Canada. - Passport
Return the passport to Passport Canada with a copy of the death certificate and a letter indicating if the cancelled passport should be destroyed or returned to you. - Citizenship - Citizenship and Immigration (CIC)
