The Interim Agreement

The Interim Agreement on Social Security between Canada and Israel came into force on September 1, 2003.

The Interim Agreement is a limited agreement dealing only with contributions. It is not an agreement of the standard type and cannot help people to qualify for social security benefits from Canada and Israel.

The provisions of the Interim Agreement ensure that persons from Canada who are sent to work temporarily in Israel will not be required to make contributions to Israel's pension program. They will continue to be covered under the Canada Pension Plan. On a reciprocal basis, the Interim Agreement ensures that persons from Israel posted to work temporarily in Canada remain covered under the pension program of Israel.
