The Victim Statement program enables victims of crime to present a brief live or recorded statement at an offender’s parole hearing to help Parole Board of Canada members evaluate the risks that the offender poses to the victims and the community.

- Victims wishing to present a live or recorded statement at a parole hearing must apply in writing to the parole office serving the institution where the hearing will be held, or to the nearest office.
Dates and Deadlines
- Once the application has been approved, victims must submit a copy of their statement in writing at least 30 days before the hearing in order to meet the 15-day legal requirement to share the information with the offender.
