Permanent Resident Travel Document - Permanent Resident Abroad
A Permanent Resident Travel Document is a temporary travel document issued to permanent residents of Canada abroad who do not have a valid permanent resident card (PR Card). A Permanent Resident Travel Document is only valid once to board commercial carrier to return to Canada.

Completed application forms must be submitted in person or by mail to a Canadian Visa Office outside Canada with the following documentation:
- proof of permanent resident status in Canada, such as a returning resident permit or an original record of landing document
- two recent, passport-sized photographs
- There is a $50 fee to apply for a temporary travel document.
