Gender Equity in Indian Status Registration – Bill C-3

As of January 31, 2011, grandchildren of women who lost Indian Status as a result of marrying non-Indian men can apply to obtain their Indian Status, in accordance with the Indian Act. AANDC is the department responsible for determining eligibility, processing applications and for granting Indian Status.
