ecoENERGY Retrofit - Homes
Note: The Government of Canada has renewed this program from June 6, 2011, until March 31, 2012.
The ecoENERGY Retrofit - Homes program provides grants to help homeowners make their homes more energy-efficient and reduce the burden of high energy costs.

Eligibility Information
New participants are only eligible for product purchased on or after June 6, 011, and installed after a pre-retrofit evaluation.
Past participants are only eligible for products purchased and installed on or after June 6, 2011.
Homes and properties must:
- be a detached house, a side-by-side semi-detached house, a row house, a low-rise multi-unit residential building of three storeys or less, a mobile home built on a permanent foundation or a permanently moored houseboat (includes principal residences, four-season recreation properties and properties rented to others);
- be in a state that allows the energy advisor to properly evaluate the building and make recommendations for energy efficiency improvements (e.g. the building cannot be evaluated if the walls have been stripped of insulation or if the windows have been removed).
Other criteria may apply.
Application Information
Applicants needed to register for ecoENERGY Retrofit – Homes program with Natural Resources Canada by January 28, 2012. Service organization submit the applications on behalf of participants to Natural Resources Canada following the post-retrofit evaluation.
Dates and Deadlines
To be eligible for upcoming retrofits, new and past participants first needed to obtain a registration number between June 6, 2011, and January 28, 2012.
All participants who have already received a registration number require a pre-retrofit evaluation (since April 2007) before starting renovations.
New participants are only eligible for product purchased on or after June 6, 2011, and installed after a pre-retrofit evaluation. Past participants are only eligible for products purchased and installed on or after June 6, 2011.
Homeowners must complete all renovations by March 31, 2012. They must obtain a post-retrofit evaluation and sign a grant application form no later than June 30, 2012.
Participants must present all retrofit receipts at the post-retrofit evaluation.
