Apprenticeship Incentive Grant - Required Supporting Documents

To complete your AIG application, you are required to submit supporting documents. You will find below a list of the required supporting documents for each province and territory.

If you do not have the required supporting documents indicated, contact your provincial or territorial apprenticeship authority and submit your application on or before June 30th of the calendar year following the date you progressed in your apprenticeship program. Once you have received your supporting document, you must mail your documents to an Apprenticeship Grant processing centre or deliver them to a Service Canada Centre near you. Service Canada will honour the date of your online application or the postmark date on your mailed application.

The following lists the supporting documents issued by each province and territory. Service Canada is not authorized to rename documents listed in the table. Only a few provinces are required to issue documents in both official languages.

To consult the list, click on the province or territory in which you are registered as an apprentice.

For each province or territory:

  • The first item indicates the apprenticeship issuing authority for that province or territory.
  • The second item indicates the document you need to provide that shows proof of registration in a designated Red Seal trade as defined by the province or territory in which you are registered as an apprentice.
  • The third item indicates the document you need to provide that demonstrates progression of the first year/level (or equivalent) or the second year/level (or equivalent), such as a letter or other official document from your apprenticeship authority.
