Yes, there is a deadline!
Service Canada must receive your application on or before June 30th of the calendar year following the date you progressed in your apprenticeship program.
Once you have submitted your on-line application, you are required to submit your supporting documents to Service Canada via mail or in person. You must ensure the postmark* date, or the date received and date stamped at a Service Canada Centre is on or before June 30th of the calendar year following the calendar year in which you completed your year/level/block of apprenticeship.
If you are using a paper application, you can bring your application and supporting documents to a Service Canada Centre to have them date-stamped, or you can mail your application and documents but be sure they are postmarked* on or before June 30th of the calendar year following the calendar year in which you completed the year/level/block.
Please refer to the following table for interpretation:
| Proof of Progression for both technical and on the job training | Deadline for submitting AIG |
|---|---|
| January 1 to December 31, 2009 | June 30, 2010 |
| January 1 to December 31, 2010 | June 30, 2011 |
*A postmark is a postal marking made on a letter, package or postcard indicating the date and time the item was delivered into the care of the postal service.
