Youth Employment Strategy
The Youth Employment Strategy is the Government of Canada's commitment to help young people, particularly those facing barriers to employment, get the information and gain the skills, work experience and abilities they need to make a successful transition into the labour market.
About the Youth Employment Strategy
The Youth Employment Strategy is comprised of three program streams: Skills Link, Career Focus, and Summer Work Experience.
How is it delivered?
The Youth Employment Strategy is a horizontal initiative involving eleven federal departments and agencies.
Service Canada offers programming under each program stream:
Skills Link provides funding for employers and organizations to help youth facing barriers to employment develop the broad range of skills and knowledge need to participate in the current and future labour market. It also promotes education and skills as being key to labour market participation.
Career Focus provides funding for employers and organizations to design and deliver a range of activities that enable youth make more informed career decisions, develop their skills and benefit from work experiences.
