Chapter 17 — Reconsideration, amendment of a decision, and error correction
17.6.0 Exceptional circumstances
The Director General, Insurance Policy, has full authority to reconsider1 any claim. This authority is normally invoked only in exceptional circumstances or when the decision will have an impact nationally.
17.6.1 New Jurisprudence
Oftentimes jurisprudence is received that causes a change to the manner in which a particular section of the Act is interpreted. New jurisprudence does not cause a reconsideration of a decision made under a previous interpretation. The new interpretation is only applied currently, to future claims, or to those cases under appeal.
