Library's Mandate

The mandate of the Departmental Library is to provide a quality information service and be an effective gateway to the world of information in support of the departmental mission and programs.

Objectives

• Provide timely quality information and document delivery services enabling departmental clients to make informed decisions, develop policy and deliver programs to Canadians.
• Cooperate with the federal library community and external library networks to ensure efficient resource sharing.
• Develop, organize, and preserve collections of information resource materials reflecting the mandate of the Department.
• Preserve the corporate memory of the Department.
• Provide functional guidance and support to regional libraries and documentation/resource centres of the Department.
