The Service Canada Centre in Abbotsford offers a number of programs and services to help the unemployed in Abbotsford and Mission with their search for work. However, it is important to keep in mind that while most of these programs are open to all unemployed Canadians, others are restricted to those people who are currently receiving Employment Insurance, or have received it in the past. Assisted Services

Enhanced services in the community can be accessed by unemployed Canadians through two Community Employment Development Offices (CEDO) that also provide specialized services for Immigrants, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities. These Employment Development Offices are the first step in accessing programs and services. They provide assistance in assessing your employment related needs and your program eligibility, they will help you to develop an individual return to work action plan and then provide referrals to appropriate programs and services in the community. Starting at the CEDO will assist you to get on the right track and identify resources to help you return to work faster and with less confusion.

Non-Assisted Services - Employment Resource Centres

Non-assisted services like the Employment Resource Centers below are self-directed drop in centers which will give you access to the computers and resources needed to help you look for employment. You can access these programs on an as needed basis and do not need a referral from the Community Employment Development Office – simply drop into the location of your choice to use the equipment and resources.

If you have formal training but are unable to find a job because you lack work experience, you may be eligible for a targeted wage subsidy. The targeted wage subsidy program is designed to help unemployed individuals gain work experience.
