Service Canada College
The Service Canada College is Service Canada’s national corporate learning institution. Our College is modelled on the “corporate university” concept found in an increasing number of corporations and public agencies in Canada and around the world.
As the first point of contact for Canadians on a growing number of programs and services, Service Canada is committed to providing service excellence. The Service Canada College helps us fulfill this commitment by:
- providing high-quality courses and programs with a uniform curriculum across the country;
- weaving the principles of service excellence into all courses; and
- formally recognizing service provision as a profession and a career within the federal public service.
The College aims to become the national learning centre for all service delivery professionals within Service Canada.
Service Excellence Certification Program
The Service Excellence Certification Program is a hands-on learning program that helps all our employees achieve their full potential in service delivery. The program, which emphasizes the knowledge, skills, and behaviours that are essential to service excellence, is based on the following five service principles:
- knowledge;
- timeliness;
- fairness;
- outcomes; and
- going the extra mile.
The component for front-line staff includes on-the-job coaching, in-class and hands-on instruction, and follow-up online sessions and assignments. The in-class portion is offered at our Regina campus.
The Service Excellence Certification Program complements employees’ functional and operational training. It is the College’s key offering and provides the basis for all employee learning.
